Real Estate

Careers in Real Estate can follow multiple paths be it on the sell-side as a transaction advisor or as an investor on the buy-side for a REIT, asset manager, private equity fund or developer. While the industry continues to recover from the effects of the boom in sub-prime lending and subsequent collapse of credit, this has led to opportunities for buyers of both distressed properties and securities. The market for development is recovering domestically, while emerging markets lead the way in international development. The Wharton Real Estate community is particularly strong, with the Zell Lurie Center providing a platform for the leading lights of the industry to gather in Philadelphia on a semi-annual basis.

The Samuel Zell and Robert Lurie Real Estate Center

The Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center attracts the most talented real estate-oriented students to Wharton every year, with experience across all areas, including investing, development, and advisory roles. The Center hosts industry-leading events with discussions on development, asset management, banking, hospitality, and more, and offers advanced real estate courses and lectures by industry leaders.

The Career Trek program aims to provide real estate students access to companies/divisions that may not recruit on campus, build industry knowledge and create a stronger job search network.  Employers appreciate the convenient marketing exposure and opportunity to network with talented real estate students interested in learning more about the industry and participating companies.
